New Jersey Based Digital Publication Hosts Second Black Business Crawl

By Desiree Hadley

Urban Girl Magazine is hosting their second Black Business Crawl! This is an event where attendees board a comfortable, stylish and fun party bus with other like-minded people and discover new and unique local Black-owned businesses together. This event, happening on Saturday, July 30, 2022, is officially sponsored by Newark Happening, part of the Greater Newark Convention and Visitors Bureau

This one of a kind experience kicks off August’s national ‘Black Business Month’. The purpose of the Black Business Crawl is to stimulate the local economy and help further circulate the Black dollar within the Black community, while having fun doing so. Statistics show the Black dollar only circulates one time within the Black community before it leaves, compared to Latino communities who have a circulation of 6 times, 9 times for Asians, and an infinite number of times for Whites. This business crawl is a way to directly disrupt this trend.

This summer’s Black business crawl will stop here:

Attendees will receive special deals and incentives to use at each establishment.

The crawl works like this: the bus will stop at each business, guests will have an allotted amount of time to go inside and shop. Each guest will receive a free gift bag filled with products from entrepreneurs of color.

If you missed the first one, you don’t want to miss this one! Urban Girl Magazine’s first Black Business Crawl took place last December, and was a huge success that encouraged the patronizing of local Black businesses in the Newark area.
